Chris La Tray keynote at Carroll College SRF: Listening to the Language of the Land

Montana's 2023-2024 Poet Laureate, Chris La Tray will be speaking as the keynote address at Carroll's Student Research Festival. La Tray will present a lecture titled, “Listening to the Language of the Land.

About the Author

A member of the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians and a Metis storyteller, La Tray has written two collections of poetry and his third book will be published in August 2024.

La Tray has established himself as a prominent voice among Montana’s poets. His debut collection, One-Sentence Journal, received multiple honors upon its release, including the 2018 Montana Book Award, the 2019 High Plains Book Award (Best First Book), and was a finalist for the 2019 High Plains Book Award (Best Book by Indigenous Writer). His third book, Becoming Little Shell, will be published in 2024 by Milkweed Editions.
